Pretty much everything in here was done after I read this tutorial. It helped a lot

of course, I think I'll keep going and try to make more complex ones, but this helped a lot for the basics

They used photoshop CS. ^^
it's a program which you have to buy but there is a trial version on the adobe website. ^^
